I haven't posted in forever. ALL the kids are good! This post is about me
I always believed that I was born in Seoul, Korea. I was abandoned and found by the Dubong Police and turned over to an adoption organization in Seoul, Korea Social Services. On September 13, 1975, a physician estimated my date of birth to be September 12, 1975. I remained at the orphanage until mid January, 1976 when I was flown over to the United States of America to a wonderful family in Maine. Fast forward to September 17, 2018. I received an email based on my request for records that indicated I was born to unwed parents. They showed up at an unknown midwife clinic located in Seoul with my mother in labor. I was born a twin. The parents had an argument over the care for us. On September 17, 1975 the father brought me back to the midwife claiming that the son had died and he was afraid I would too so he handed me off. The older midwife, nearing 70, turned me over to Korea Social Services. Korea Social Services named me after the midwife, Hye Kyung Park.
I think it was easier believing I was abandoned all these year, like most of us Korean adoptees think rather than getting this story. Part of me feels like my brother could be alive and that they kept him, he could have been placed for adoption, or really did die.
